Want to stay in a cabin or yurt at Champoeg 2008?

There’s a little contest/raffle going on to win the rights to a cabin or yurt at Champoeg this year.

2 cabins are available for the whole weekend, and 1 yurt is available for Thursday night.

Here’s a message that the Wagonmaster sent out last night:

There are 2 cabins at Champoeg that have not yet been assigned.
There's also a Yurt that's available only Thursday night, July 24.

The lucky occupants of these sites will be determined at the event cache on March
29th see http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=gc1a802 ).
One cabin and the yurt will be determined by random draw and the winner
need not be present. The other cabin will be allocated as described on
the cache page.

For both cabins, if you win a cabin you forfeit your 2008 campsite (if you have
one), but you retain squatter’s rights for if for 2009. Wagonmaster will find
someone for our 2008 campsite. You pay the difference in cost.
But…..You get a cabin…how cool is that?

For the yurt, there’s no change to the campsite, though if you want to sell back
your Thursday night and pay the $6 change fee that’s fine.

The cabins are $35 per night plus $16 for the reservation (we have to pay the $6
reservation fee and the $6 change fee, so the contribution to the “Champoeg fund”
is the same as for campsites). The yurt is $27 for the night and the change fee is
already taken care of. I would expect payment within a 10 days and of course all
you would owe is the difference between the price of your campsite and the price of
your cabin/yurt. If I haven’t received your payment within 10 days I will find
another cacher to take the cabin in your place (there's someone with a special need
that I only learned about after we decided how to allocate the cabins).

If you'd like to enter the raffle, please send an e-mail to champoeg@gmail.com by
Friday March 28 indicating whether you're only interested in the cabin or also
interested in the yurt. It will also be possible to enter at the event on the 29th.
One entry per campsite/caching family.

Hoping to see you on the 29th,
Marla (aka wagonmaster)

The __(adjective)__ Champoeg Geo-Race

SLAB Productions in cooperation with our wives, D. W. Tigger, Turtletime, and Gerta the Meek proudly present a Champoeg event you won’t want to miss. What is it you ask? It is…………….

The __(adjective)__ Champoeg Geo-Race

A shameless mocking of The Amazing Race.
You will need a four person team(no one younger than 12), a GPS or 4, a writing utensil or 4, a sense of adventure, and most important, a sense of humor.

Roadblocks and detours will have you guessing for 3 hours along a 2+ mile route.

Are you ready for a challenge or are you going to wimp out?

Rules: Yield to muggles.

Time: Saturday night 5-5:30 starting time in Yurtville. 2 1/2 hours to complete entire race.

fractalSoup FilmFest! 2008

Here’s the first of several official announcements…

Soup and I enjoy making videos. With video cameras getting cheaper, most digital cameras able to take video, and video editing software coming pre-installed on a lot of computers, it’s pretty easy for most folks to put together a video.
You’ve seen some of our work. Now, we want to see yours!

At Champoeg 2008, Soup and fractal are having a film festival. Friday, July 25th, 8-10pm, in the RV building.
After seeing the Gong Show last year, we know how funny, creative, and entertaining our fellow cachers can be. Seeing them explore their creativity with video should be interesting :)

Here’s some suggestions for your film: Read the rest of this entry »

Video from 2006

I lost track of a lot of pictures and videos, and recently found them. I put together a little video from 2006 documenting the ivy pull that we did. It’s not terribly exciting, but it’s good to show the effort we put out. Read the rest of this entry »

The dust has settled…

I’m slowly putting together the front-end for champoeg.com, powered by WordPress.

I’ll be adding pages soon with links to things like:

  • FAQ
  • Schedule
  • Photos
  • History
  • Map
  • etc…

Oh.. And I’ll be adding the countdown timer in the near future as well :)
